A Midsummer Night's Dream - Oberon And Titania

Act IV, Scene 1, L. 45-100 (p.216-p.220): Oberon and titanic oxide : submission or propitiation ?

This passage is an extract from A Midsummer Nights Dream which was written by Shakespeare.
As the title of this contrive suggests it, the play takes place mainly in the darkness and oddly in the woods which are an enchanting world as the Queen of the Fairies, titanium oxide, is submitted to it and loses her identity without being able to do anything. She has been medicine indirectly by her husband, Oberon, because he wanted her Indian child. So she has opened her eyes just after the trick and has move in love with a miserable human being, Bottom. Then, later, she woke up from this dream and we can ask ourselves in which way Oberon and titanias satisfaction can be seen as a submission to each other?

I/ Oberons reconciliation with Titania

Oberon remains Master and female monarch of the situation. He has attained what he wanted: the Indian Child. But his behavior seems to change concerning Titania who witnesses tenderness for Bottom on line 46 Her senility now I do begin to pity.




Indeed, she has crowned Bottom, her new lover, with a coronet of fresh and fragrant flowers (l.51).
So, Oberon wakes Titania up after having pressed the juice on her eyelids so that shes now able to be aware of her attitude. But rather of being angry and outraged of her husbands trick, she makes love-in-idleness with him so that together they will go back to capital of Greece to bless Theseus marriage.
« Oberon and Titania dance» (l.85) (theatrical line) = feast according the notes at the end of the page the dance moves the play powerfully towards a new movement of reunion and reconciliation symbolizing the pertly orthodox harmony and hierarchy between Oberon and Titania, husband and wife, King and Queen.
